A gen Z woman has stirred debate online after claiming she was gifted a television set by a man she met on social media following a night they spent together.

In a video shared on TikTok, the woman alleged that the man initially reached out to her through Facebook before arranging a meeting.

According to her account, the two later met in person after he picked her up for a night out.

She said they spent the evening at a club in Rongai, where they drank before heading to the man’s residence in Karen.

While narrating the experience, she claimed the man appeared heavily intoxicated and had multiple television sets in his house.

The woman further alleged that during their stay, she asked him to give her one of the televisions, and he agreed.

She said she left with the appliance the following day and subsequently cut off communication with him, later showcasing the TV on social media.

The claims have since triggered mixed reactions online, with some users questioning the circumstances of the alleged exchange, while others focused on the broader social and economic pressures faced by young people.

Reflecting on her actions, the woman indicated that financial struggles influenced her decisions at the time.

“Ndio nilikuwa naanza maisha,” she said, suggesting she was navigating a difficult period in her life.

The story has added to ongoing conversations around online interactions, transactional relationships, and the impact of economic hardship on personal choices among young adults in urban Kenya.
