Kebaso Blasts Pauline Njoroge Over Sifuna Endorsement, Backs Matiang’i for 2027

A fresh political rift has emerged within opposition-aligned ranks after activist and politician Morara Kebaso sharply criticised Jubilee Party official Pauline Njoroge for backing Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s perceived 2027 presidential ambitions.

The disagreement, now playing out publicly, exposes growing tensions over loyalty and strategy within formations associated with the Jubilee Party and the broader Linda Mwananchi movement.

Njoroge, Jubilee’s deputy organising secretary, had stirred debate after passionately defending Sifuna, framing his political rise as divinely ordained rather than financially driven.

In a statement that quickly gained traction online, she invoked biblical analogies to describe what she termed as “favor that money cannot buy.”

“It’s the kind of grace that lifted Joseph from slavery to the palace, the grace that took David from the shepherd’s field to the throne,” Njoroge said.

“The Sifuna you look down upon today because he does not have money is the very one you will soon address as His Excellency.”

She further signalled grassroots backing for the Nairobi senator, adding: “Huyu ni wetu kama wananchi… Sisi ndio tutamshikilia, na hiyo pesa ni sisi wananchi tutampatia.”

However, Kebaso dismissed Njoroge’s position as politically inconsistent, arguing that Jubilee members should rally behind former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, who is widely seen as the party’s preferred presidential candidate.

“If you are in Linda Mwananchi and at the same time you are a Jubilee Party member where you also have a presidential candidate, that multibet will not work,” Kebaso said. “Main chick and side chick politics is adultery. Choose a side and be loyal.”

Kebaso maintained that political discipline and clarity would be critical heading into the 2027 General Election, warning against divided support within opposition ranks.

“In this whole political space, no one has a performance record that comes close to that of Dr Fred Matiang’i. Let us focus,” he added.

The exchange highlights early jostling for influence ahead of 2027, with different factions positioning preferred candidates while attempting to consolidate grassroots support.
