Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has publicly alleged the identities of individuals he claims orchestrated the violent attack on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi in Kisumu on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
The incident, captured on CCTV at a restaurant in Western Mall, left the senator badly injured and sparked national outrage.
Mr Owino, speaking at a press briefing in Nairobi on Thursday, provided a list of 17 names he says are linked to the assault.
He described the group as “organized goons” and urged law enforcement to investigate the individuals he identified.
According to the MP, the alleged suspects include Lucas Otieno Dogo, Tinga (from Manyatta/Nyalenda), Buda (from Nyalenda Western), and Ronney (from Manyatta). Others named were Allan (from Nyalenda), Kevin (from Buddies Nyalenda), Kalonje-Carlos (from Buddies Nyalenda), Kleen Kwere, Atito, and Boy Akoth.
The list also features Brian Otoyo, Dube, Novi, Ras Okeyo, Sam Mollo, Benna Ziza, and Ronny.
Owino called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Police Service to act swiftly on the information, stressing that political violence has no place in Kenya’s democratic process.
He said the suspects should be arrested, charged, and brought before court to face justice.
The MP’s allegations come as police continue to investigate the attack that occurred while Senator Osotsi was at Java House in Western Mall, Kisumu City, earlier this week.
CCTV footage from the restaurant showed a group of men violently assaulting Osotsi before bystanders intervened.
The senator was subsequently treated at a local hospital and later airlifted to Nairobi for specialised care.
The DCI has condemned the assault as “brazen and cowardly” and reaffirmed its commitment to identifying and prosecuting those responsible.
Authorities have cautioned the public against speculation as investigations proceed.
