The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has confirmed the arrest of three individuals linked to the violent assault on Vihiga Senator Hon. Godfrey Osotsi, which occurred on Wednesday at Java House, West End Mall in Kisumu City.

The suspects, identified as Carlos Owiti alias Kalonje (24) from Nyalenda, Eric Otieno alias Dude (39) from Manyatta, and Vincent Odhiambo alias Tinga (27) from Nyalenda, are currently in police custody. They are being processed for arraignment in court as investigations continue.

The attack, which left Senator Osotsi seriously injured, unfolded while he was attending a routine meeting at the mall.

Eyewitnesses and CCTV footage show the senator being physically assaulted by a group of men, leaving him badly bruised and requiring urgent medical attention.

He was initially treated at a local hospital in Kisumu before being airlifted to Nairobi’s Karen Hospital for specialist care. Authorities have since confirmed that Osotsi is stable but recovering.

DCI officers say investigations into the incident have been intensified, with detectives actively pursuing additional suspects believed to be involved in the attack.

“The Directorate is committed to bringing all perpetrators to justice,” a DCI statement said. Authorities are analysing CCTV footage and following leads provided by members of the public.

The DCI has acknowledged the role of residents who volunteered critical information, which led to the arrests of the three suspects.

Citizens are urged to continue sharing any relevant details to assist law enforcement in completing the investigation.

The incident has drawn widespread condemnation from political leaders and civil society, who describe it as an attack not only on Senator Osotsi but on the principles of political tolerance and public safety.

Several lawmakers have called for heightened security for elected officials, citing rising concerns over political violence and targeted attacks in public spaces.
