The National Police Service (NPS) has issued an official update on the June 12, 2026 incident at All Saints’ Cathedral in Nairobi, confirming that the situation is under investigation and that arrests have already been made.
In a press statement released on June 14, the Office of the Inspector General said a group of individuals stormed the cathedral premises and attempted to disrupt a meeting taking place within one of the buildings inside the church compound.
According to the police, officers responded swiftly after receiving reports of the disturbance. They managed to repel the group, restore order, and secure the area. Two suspects were apprehended at the scene and are currently in police custody.
The statement further clarified that investigations are ongoing, with authorities conducting a detailed review of CCTV footage to identify and arrest all individuals involved in the incident.
The police emphasized that the probe will be handled thoroughly and professionally.
“The National Police Service wishes to provide the public with an update on the ongoing investigation,” the statement read in part, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to ensuring accountability.
Authorities have also appealed to members of the public to share any information that may assist with the investigation.
Kenyans with credible leads have been urged to report to the nearest police station or use official hotlines, including emergency numbers 999 and 911, the #FichuaKwaDCI toll-free line, or the designated WhatsApp contact.
The NPS reiterated its commitment to protecting the public and maintaining law and order, noting that all those found culpable will be brought to justice.
The service also assured the public that updates will continue to be provided as the investigation progresses.
The incident, which disrupted activities at one of Nairobi’s prominent places of worship, has drawn public attention and raised concerns over security at public forums and religious institutions.
