Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris has praised EALA MP Winnie Odinga for her performance during Tuesday night’s interview on Citizen TV, describing it as a demonstration of political maturity, clarity, and conviction.
Passaris, commenting on X, stated: “Political maturity. Clarity. Conviction. Winnie Odinga nailed her interview yesterday. A proud continuation of her father’s values, and a clear step forward in her own right. The King is dead but long live the crown.”
During the interview, Winnie Odinga firmly rejected claims by businessman Oketch Salah that he was present during her late father, Raila Odinga’s final hours.
She called the narrative “dangerous lies” and questioned Salah’s intentions, emphasizing that no one outside the family could verify such personal moments.
Winnie revealed that she had spent about two hours with her father the night before his passing, describing the time as deeply personal and emotionally challenging, and refused to disclose further details out of respect for privacy.
She also addressed internal ODM dynamics, expressing concern over how the party had handled leadership matters after Raila Odinga’s death.
Winnie said some decisions were made “unconstitutionally and without transparency,” highlighting that dissenting voices within the party were often intimidated or sidelined.
Despite these criticisms, she confirmed her support for acting ODM leader Dr. Oburu Oginga, clarifying that her issues were with process, not individuals, and framing the challenges as political rather than personal.
