KANU chairman and former Baringo senator, Gideon Moi, has described the death of Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno as a profound loss for both Kenya and the constituency he served.

In a statement issued following the tragic helicopter crash in Nandi County on Saturday evening, Moi expressed his grief and paid tribute to the late legislator’s leadership and character.

“It is indeed a deeply sad evening for Kenya, and especially for the people of Emurua Dikirr, following the passing of my friend and compatriot, Hon. Johana Ngeno,” Moi said.

He described Ngeno as a “paragon of courage and conviction,” highlighting the MP’s straightforward approach to leadership.

“He spoke his mind with clarity and stood firmly by his word. When it came to defending his constituents, he never wavered. Whether you agreed with him or not, his sincerity or boldness was unquestionable,” Moi added.

The KANU leader noted that Ngeno, a young and fiery legislator, had much more to contribute to Kenyan politics.

“Yet, as is the destiny of every mortal soul, Hon. Johana Ngong Ngeno Ole Kisiara has gone before us,” he said, reflecting on the suddenness of the loss.

Moi extended condolences to the bereaved family, led by Ngeno’s wife, Mama Nayianoi Ntutu, as well as to the families of other victims of the crash. He prayed for strength and comfort for all those affected during this difficult period.

“On behalf of the Moi family and the entire KANU fraternity, I extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the people of Emurua Dikirr,” he concluded.

Ngeno’s death has prompted an outpouring of grief from political leaders, colleagues, and constituents, many of whom have lauded his dedication to public service and his unwavering commitment to representing the interests of his community.

The helicopter crash has left a notable void in Emurua Dikirr, where residents remember Ngeno not just for his political acumen, but also for his accessibility and personal touch with the electorate.

His passing marks a sudden and tragic end to a promising political career, and Kenya mourns the loss of one of its vibrant young leaders.
