Residents of Ng’wamalale village in the Ngambosi ward, Simiyu region, are still talking about a bizarre incident witnessed during a recent funeral, according to a local man identified as Ilakoze.
Ilakoze recounted attending a funeral at a home in Ngambosi, where the deceased was a woman whose child reportedly displayed unusual behavior.
"What I saw was shocking. When the son approached the house in a peculiar manner—by the wind—he entered where the body was lying. Those inside left the room, and he took out two strands of hair and examined them," Ilakoze said.
Local beliefs suggest that the act was meant to confirm whether the mother had truly died or if malevolent forces had taken over her spirit.
After the encounter, Ilakoze said the man told the attendees, “Zikeni,” before leaving the scene in the same mysterious manner.
The incident has stirred curiosity among residents, particularly given Ilakoze’s description of the man’s arrival and departure “by the wind,” a phrase often associated with supernatural abilities in local folklore.
Ilakoze, who lives in Ng’wamalale, noted that the deceased’s mother resided in the nearby Ngambosi village.
Seeking clarity, Ilakoze traveled to meet the man but was met with cryptic responses.
He recounted being told that minor personal problems would be resolved quickly, but his own issues were more serious.
The man reportedly emphasized the potential of technology in supernatural contexts, hinting at mysterious abilities or tools beyond ordinary human knowledge.
“I want to say that technology exists, and I wish to have it. The kind of sudden disappearance I witnessed—I know it exists. Others may not benefit from seeing it, but when it happens, they will know,” Ilakoze stated.
The story has sparked debates online and locally, as residents and social media users speculate about the nature of the encounter and whether it represents local spiritual practices or unexplained phenomena.
