Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has raised concerns over the recent actions of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna following his removal as the ODM Party Secretary General, suggesting that the events appear strategically orchestrated rather than spontaneous.
In a statement shared on social media, Salasya questioned the timing and execution of Sifuna’s moves, describing them as “scripted” and meticulously planned to convey a particular narrative.
He pointed to Sifuna’s immediate rollout of a professionally designed poster announcing a “Linda Mwananchi Tour” rally in Kitengela, Kajiado County, scheduled for this Sunday.
According to Salasya, the polished nature of the poster, complete with branding and event details, strongly indicated prior preparation.
“This isn’t spontaneity; it’s strategy, positioning him as a ‘victim’ rallying the masses right out the gate,” Salasya remarked.
He argued that the rapid dissemination of the poster suggested that Sifuna had a pre-prepared playbook ready to influence public perception.
Salasya also highlighted Sifuna’s media address, where the senator claimed his removal was illegal and unconstitutional, promising to challenge it in court while linking the action to President William Ruto’s alleged opposition to his anti-re-election stance.
Almost immediately, the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) issued an interim order suspending the ODM National Executive Committee (NEC) resolution of February 11, blocking gazettement by the Registrar of Political Parties, and setting a mention for February 26 to confirm compliance.
“Courts don’t move this fast unless wheels are greased,” Salasya wrote, noting that the same-day court ruling, following Sifuna’s challenge, paints the senator as a righteous fighter while raising questions about the speed and coordination of the legal response.
The MP emphasized that these events — from the instant poster release to the court reprieve — are unlikely to be coincidental.
“It’s all too seamless, designed to make Sifuna look like he’s battling the system from outside while the drama keeps ODM tied to the regime via the unfulfilled MoU,” he added.
Salasya’s commentary comes amid growing debate over ODM’s internal dynamics and the strategic maneuvers of its senior leaders.
