Senior Counsel Nelson Havi has intensified pressure on High Court Judge Josephine Mongare, urging lawyers to boycott her court over alleged corruption, as fresh claims surface from individuals he says are victims of judicial misconduct.
In a statement, Havi called on advocates to log into the judge’s virtual sessions and demand that she steps aside to clear her name before the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
He argued that a judge facing bribery allegations lacks the legal and moral authority to preside over disputes.
The senior counsel, who detailed a strained professional relationship with Justice Mongare, accused her of delivering shallow rulings lacking legal grounding and alleged that personal differences led to bias against him in court.
As the controversy unfolds, Havi has also invited members of the public and legal practitioners to share alleged experiences of corruption linked to the judge, signalling an effort to build a broader case beyond his personal encounters.
In one instance, he shared a message attributed to a lawyer claiming the judge demanded KSh10 million to influence a case, with an initial deposit of KSh5 million.
The lawyer alleged they withdrew the matter and refiled it elsewhere.
The same message further claimed that previous court orders were withdrawn after a separate demand for KSh1 million was not met. The allegations remain unverified.
Havi has previously linked Justice Mongare to wider claims of judicial corruption and criticised the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) for clearing her in earlier complaints.
He has since filed legal action against her and High Court Judge Alfred Mabeya, alleging systemic interference.
Justice Mongare and the Judicial Service Commission have yet to respond to the latest claims, as scrutiny over judicial accountability continues to grow.
