Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Omollo on Monday expressed grave concern over the disappearance of former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju, calling for an immediate and intensified search as investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) continue.

“Find Raphael Tuju; as the MP for Rarieda, as a lawyer, as a Luo, as a Kenyan and as a human being, I’m gravely concerned with the news of the alleged abduction of Hon Raphael Tuju,” Omollo said in a statement.

He urged all policing agencies to do all that is possible to trace, protect and deliver Hon Tuju safely to his home.

Tuju, a senior politician and former secretary general of the Jubilee Party, was last heard from on the afternoon of Saturday, March 21, ahead of a scheduled evening appearance on Ramogi FM.

He failed to arrive for the interview, and his mobile phone has been unreachable since, according to family and security sources.

The situation escalated on Sunday morning when Tuju’s vehicle was found abandoned along Miotoni Lane in the affluent Karen suburb of Nairobi.

The car was left with the keys inside and no sign of Tuju or his driver, identified as Steve Mwanga.

Family members filed a missing‑person report at Karen Police Station, prompting the DCI to launch a formal investigation.

Forensic teams have processed the scene and detectives are following multiple leads, though, as of Monday, there has been no confirmed sighting of the former CS or his driver.

In his remarks, Omollo described the circumstances as deeply troubling, particularly given the keys left in the vehicle and the unresolved whereabouts of both Tuju and Mwanga.

“This is not just a matter for his family but a national concern. All resources must be deployed to ensure his safety,” the MP added.
