Kilimani detectives have recovered a stolen Glock 19 pistol and arrested four suspects following a daring hotel heist in the area.
The incident unfolded when a licensed firearm holder secured his hotel room, confident that his belongings, including the Glock 19 and two magazines loaded with 30 rounds of 9mm ammunition, were safe. Upon returning from errands, he discovered the room had been ransacked, and his firearm missing.
Prompted by the theft, detectives launched a detailed investigation, tracing forensic leads that led them to Kangemi in Dagoretti North. Acting on the information, officers moved swiftly to arrest four individuals: Alex Agar, Harrison Oyuoma, Dan Karani, and Beatrice Njoki.
A subsequent search of the suspects’ residence uncovered the stolen pistol, which had been hidden but was not well concealed. Authorities confirmed that the firearm and ammunition were recovered intact.
The four suspects are currently in custody, undergoing processing as investigations continue ahead of their arraignment.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) emphasized that the recovery highlights the effectiveness of coordinated police work and forensic analysis in tackling firearm-related crimes.
They also urged licensed firearm owners to exercise heightened vigilance, even when using secure accommodations, to prevent similar incidents.
This case adds to ongoing concerns over the theft of firearms in Nairobi, prompting authorities to reinforce security measures around licensed weapon holders and public lodging facilities.
Investigators continue to examine whether the suspects are linked to other criminal activities in the region.
The DCI has assured the public that law enforcement will maintain zero tolerance for illegal possession and theft of firearms, warning that those involved in such crimes will face stringent legal action.
The investigation remains active, and authorities are calling on anyone with additional information to come forward to aid in curbing firearm theft and related criminal networks in Nairobi.
