Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has pledged to help the family of the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno construct a mausoleum in his memory.
Gachagua made the announcement on Friday, August 21, 2026, during a visit to Ng’eno’s family home, where he paid tribute to the former lawmaker and met members of his family.
The former Deputy President said the mausoleum would serve as a lasting reminder of his friendship with Ng’eno, who died in a helicopter crash in February 2026 alongside five other people.
“I will help in the construction of a Mouselium in remembrance of my friend Johanna Ng’eno,” Gachagua said during the visit.
He said he had already directed designers to prepare a proposal for the structure, stressing that the final design should reflect the wishes of Ng’eno’s mother.
“I have instructed that the designers develop a design that Mama will be comfortable with. Work should commence immediately,” he added.
Gachagua’s pledge came after he visited Ng’eno’s gravesite and paid his respects to the former MP. He was received by the late lawmaker’s mother, who accompanied him to the graveside.
The visit provided an opportunity for Gachagua to publicly reflect on his relationship with Ng’eno, whom he described as a close friend. The two had maintained a political and personal relationship before the MP’s death.
Gachagua’s decision to support the construction of the mausoleum is expected to provide the family with a permanent memorial for Ng’eno, while also preserving his memory within the community he represented.
Ng’eno’s death shocked political circles after the helicopter he was travelling in crashed on February 28, 2026. The incident claimed the lives of all six people on board.
Gachagua has previously raised questions over the circumstances surrounding the crash and called for investigations into the deaths of several prominent Kenyans.

His latest visit to the Ng’eno family comes as he continues political activities in the wider Emurua Dikirr area. However, during the visit, his focus was on honouring the late lawmaker and supporting his family.
The mausoleum project will now depend on the design to be prepared for the family and the commencement of construction as pledged by Gachagua.
