“Wewe uliavya mimba!” Those were the painful words my own family kept throwing at me after I lost my pregnancy.


The miscarriage broke me physically and emotionally. I had been so excited to become a mother. 


I had already imagined the baby’s face, the tiny clothes, and the future ahead.


But in a moment, everything was taken away. Instead of receiving comfort and understanding, I was blamed and accused of intentionally ending my pregnancy. No one wanted to listen to the doctor’s explanation.


The hospital confirmed it was a natural miscarriage, something that can happen for many medical reasons beyond anyone’s control. But in my family’s eyes, rumors were louder than medical facts. 


They whispered behind my back. They questioned my character.


They treated me like a woman who had done something shameful.
