Police officers from Mikindani Police Station have intensified their fight against drug trafficking with a targeted raid in the Mataa ya Ndege area of Jomvu Sub-County, Mombasa County.

During the operation, authorities arrested one suspect and recovered 30 sachets and 11 rolls of cannabis sativa, alongside other drug-related items.

The seized materials have been secured as evidence, while the suspect remains in custody pending court arraignment.

The National Police Service (NPS) affirmed its commitment to protecting communities from the risks posed by narcotic drugs, stressing that such operations are part of a broader strategy to curb drug abuse and criminal activity across the county.

“This arrest underscores our dedication to disrupting the supply of illicit substances that threaten the safety and wellbeing of Mombasa residents,” said the NPS in a statement shared on X.

Authorities have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and assist law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities.

Citizens can submit information at the nearest police station or directly to any law enforcement officer.

The crackdown in Jomvu follows a series of similar operations in Mombasa, aimed at dismantling networks involved in the distribution of narcotics.

Police say community cooperation is vital in sustaining these efforts, noting that drug-related crimes often thrive in areas where information flow between residents and law enforcement is weak.

As the NPS continues these enforcement activities, authorities emphasize that combating narcotics is a shared responsibility and call on local communities to remain alert and proactive in reporting illegal activities.

The investigation into the suspect and the seized drugs is ongoing, with police promising further updates on arrests and operations aimed at ensuring public safety in Mombasa County.
