The Ministry of Health hosted a delegation from Fujifilm–Sciencescope on Tuesday at Afya House, Nairobi, to explore partnerships aimed at improving Kenya’s healthcare services.

The delegation, led by Mr. Hirotaka Michiba, met with Dr. Andrew Toro, Head of Nursing and Curative Services, representing Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga.

Dr. Toro highlighted the importance of strategic and timely collaborations that drive innovation, build capacity, and enhance service delivery across the health sector.

“Partnerships like these are crucial for advancing medical technology and improving patient care,” he said.

The discussions focused primarily on strengthening endoscopy services in Kenya, a key area in diagnostic and treatment care.

The engagement allowed both sides to share experiences, identify priority areas, and lay the foundation for future cooperation aimed at improving access and quality of endoscopic procedures nationwide.

Also present at the meeting was Dr. Anthony Kamau, Acting Director of Clinical Services at the Kenya University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH), who noted that expanding endoscopy capabilities could significantly improve early detection and treatment outcomes for gastrointestinal and other internal conditions.

Fujifilm–Sciencescope, a global leader in medical imaging and diagnostic equipment, expressed interest in supporting Kenya’s efforts to modernize and expand its endoscopy services through technical expertise, training programs, and equipment provision.

The Ministry of Health emphasized that partnerships with international medical technology providers are part of a broader strategy to enhance healthcare infrastructure, strengthen human resource capacity, and deliver better health outcomes for Kenyans.

Future collaborations will focus on practical interventions to improve service delivery and ensure that cutting-edge diagnostic tools are accessible across the country.

This engagement marks a step forward in Kenya’s ongoing effort to integrate advanced medical technologies and improve patient care in line with global healthcare standards.
