Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has spotlighted several national government projects in Garissa, reinforcing President William Ruto’s multi-sectoral development agenda aimed at bridging long-standing gaps in the region.
During a health tour of the county, CS Duale officially opened the Tayseer Islamic Centre in Kumahumato, Dadaab Constituency.
Established by Al-Tayseer Charity, the centre is set to provide humanitarian and social support to vulnerable families, complementing ongoing government efforts to distribute food and water in drought-affected areas.
“The President’s development focus in Garissa and Northern Kenya continues to deliver transformative change,” CS Duale stated.
He highlighted infrastructure projects such as the LAPSSET 420 Lamu–Garissa dual carriageway, designed to improve mobility, trade, and regional integration.
Plans for the Garissa–Sabah–Liboi Road were also cited, aiming to enhance connectivity and economic opportunities across the county.
Other government interventions include affordable housing projects, construction of modern markets, measures to ease chronic power outages, and improved access to identification services through the removal of vetting requirements for IDs and passports.
The reinstatement of the regional immigration office has further facilitated access to essential services.
On the social services front, Kumahumato Health Centre has been upgraded from a dispensary to a Level 3B facility, strengthening healthcare delivery and supporting maternal health initiatives by expanding access to skilled medical care.
CS Duale emphasized that these projects reflect the government’s commitment to inclusive development, improved service delivery, and sustainable economic growth.
He noted that collaboration with local and humanitarian organizations remains central to addressing the pressing needs of Garissa residents, particularly those affected by drought and socio-economic challenges.
“These initiatives reaffirm our determination to transform Garissa into a hub of opportunity, resilience, and prosperity for all,” he concluded.
