Uganda’s National Unity Platform (NUP) has reported that its presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, and his wife are under house arrest after Thursday’s general elections.
NUP claims that security personnel unlawfully jumped over the compound’s perimeter fence and have begun erecting tents within the property, a measure the party describes as “illegal and intimidating.”
The development comes amid heightened tensions across the country, as Ugandans await the Electoral Commission’s official results.

Bobi Wine, a former pop star turned politician, has emerged as a prominent challenger to President Yoweri Museveni, who has been in power for nearly four decades.
NUP has called on both local and international bodies to intervene, demanding respect for the rule of law and the protection of the candidate and his family.
The coming days are expected to be critical in determining Uganda’s post-election political trajectory, as the nation watches closely how the authorities handle the opposition’s claims.
