Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has offered a personal account of his professional relationship with the late Cyrus Jirongo, adding to the growing list of tributes following the former Lugari MP’s death.

In a statement posted on X, Sudi reflected on his time working under Jirongo and highlighted a leadership style he says left a lasting impression on him.

Jirongo, a former legislator and businessman, died earlier this week following a road accident in Nakuru County.

His death has drawn reactions from political leaders across the country, underscoring his long-standing presence in Kenya’s political and public life.

Sudi said his association with Jirongo dates back more than a decade, when he worked as Jirongo’s assistant between 2009 and mid-2012.

According to the Kapseret MP, the period allowed him to closely observe how Jirongo managed political and personal challenges while leading his team.

In his statement, Sudi pointed to Jirongo’s communication style as a defining feature of his leadership.

He said Jirongo had a habit of reassuring colleagues that problems would be resolved, even in moments when resources were strained.

Sudi noted that this approach often gave those around him confidence and a sense of direction.

“One thing that stood out about Jirongo was his ability to sell hope to us,” Sudi wrote, adding that Jirongo spoke with certainty about solutions, particularly on financial matters.

He attributed this confidence to Jirongo’s influence as a leader who motivated others through words and conviction.

Cyrus Jirongo served as Lugari MP and later remained active in national affairs through business and political engagements.

Over the years, he became known for mentoring younger politicians and maintaining networks across different political formations, reflecting Kenya’s fluid political landscape.

Sudi described Jirongo as a leader who did not always follow conventional paths but instead relied on personal persuasion and belief in possibility.

He said this approach earned Jirongo loyalty from those who worked closely with him during his political career.

The Kapseret MP concluded his message by extending condolences to Jirongo’s family, friends, and associates.
