Kenya’s parliamentary football team, Bunge FC, defeated Burundi 2–1 on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, Uganda. The win came during the ongoing East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games and secured Kenya a strong finish in the football competition.

According to a statement shared by the Parliament of Kenya on social media, the match was played at high intensity, with both teams pressing from the opening minutes.

Kenya took an early initiative and capitalised on set pieces to build a decisive advantage before halftime.

Bunge FC opened the scoring in the 33rd minute when Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot converted a free kick delivered by Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo. Cheruiyot’s left-footed strike found the net, giving Kenya the lead and energising the team on the touchline.

Burundi responded six minutes later. They drew level in the 39th minute after Emmanuel Ndayizeye scored from a free kick, taking advantage of a brief lapse in Kenya’s defensive organisation. The equaliser shifted momentum briefly in Burundi’s favour.

Kenya, however, restored their lead just before the break. In the 44th minute, another well-taken free kick from Otiende Amollo picked out Senator Allan Chesang, who finished clinically to make it 2–1 heading into halftime.

The second half saw Burundi dominate possession as they searched for an equaliser. Kenya’s defence remained organised, supported by disciplined midfield tracking and assured goalkeeping.

The team slowed the tempo when required and limited Burundi to few clear scoring opportunities.

Despite sustained pressure in the closing stages, Bunge FC held firm and protected their lead until the final whistle. The result confirmed Kenya’s second-place finish in the football category at the EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games.
