President William Ruto has outlined a series of major infrastructure projects being implemented in Narok County, saying the investments will improve connectivity and unlock the region’s economic potential.
Ruto said the government was undertaking several road projects while expanding electricity access and upgrading transport infrastructure, including the ongoing development of Narok Airport.
“We are transforming Narok County through deliberate infrastructure projects to unlock its vast economic potential,” Ruto said.
He noted that the tarmacking of the Ngoswani-Naikarra-Morijo road was progressing, with 30 kilometres already completed. Construction of the Ololung'a-Ewaso Ng'iro road is also ongoing, while the Ololung'a-Sogoo-Saptet-Mulot road has reached nearly 60 per cent completion.
“In Narok East, construction of the 40km Suswa-Inkorionito-Naiekia-Enkare road is ongoing while Narok Airport will be ready in the next few months,” the President said.
Ruto also highlighted the government's investment in electricity connectivity, saying Sh2.8 billion had been allocated to extend power access to more residents across the county.
“On last mile electricity connectivity, we are investing KSh2.8 billion to connect more residents to power,” he said.
The President also launched construction of the 59-kilometre Enengetia-Olposimoru road, which will link Eneng'etia, Olokurto, Enkuseru, Olposimoru and Kiptenden.
Ruto said the road would be particularly important to farmers by improving the movement of agricultural produce from the region to markets.
“The road will open up this productive region by making it easier for farmers to move vegetables, maize, wheat and dairy produce, among other agricultural products, to markets,” he said.
He added that the improved road network would also support trade and business along the corridor by reducing transport barriers and improving access between communities and commercial centres.
The infrastructure projects come as the government continues to focus on improving rural connectivity and expanding access to essential services.
For Narok, the planned road and electricity investments are expected to strengthen agricultural value chains while creating better conditions for businesses and residents to access wider markets and services.
