Head of Government Special Projects and Creative Economy Dennis Itumbi has hit back at Nairobi Senator and Linda Mwananchi leader Edwin Sifuna after the lawmaker shared a photograph showing him covered in dust during his tour of Homa Bay County.
Sifuna, who was in Homa Bay as part of the Linda Mwananchi political tour, appeared dusty in the photograph, prompting him to comment on the condition of the roads in the area.
“Bwana walisema huku Homabay ndio kuna shiny things kumbe ni ukora tu…dust is constant,” Sifuna said.
The remarks drew a sharp response from Itumbi, who accused Sifuna's photographer of inadvertently undermining the message the senator appeared to be communicating.
“Ndugu Sifuna, your photographer FAILED you. The propaganda imeangushwa na one small and important detail,” Itumbi said.
According to Itumbi, the photograph contained evidence that road construction was taking place in the area, pointing to machinery visible in the background.
“It clearly shows KAZI INAFANYIKA. The machine in the background is used to build roads. Just FYI,” he added.
Itumbi argued that Sifuna's photograph therefore demonstrated that development projects were underway in Homa Bay rather than proving claims of neglect.
He went on to credit President William Ruto and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga for what he described as ongoing development in the county.
“Asante for confirming that President William Samoei Ruto and Governor Governor Gladys Wanga are delivering. There is stuff you cannot hide. Sina mengi ya kusema kwa sasa,” Itumbi said.
The exchange comes amid heightened political activity surrounding the Linda Mwananchi tour, which has brought together opposition figures and political leaders campaigning on issues affecting ordinary Kenyans.
The Homa Bay leg of the tour was also marked by reports of disruptions and confrontations involving members of the convoy as they attempted to enter Homa Bay Town.
Several leaders who participated in the tour later shared accounts of the incidents, with some alleging that their vehicles were attacked and roads blocked.
