A new political formation is taking shape in Western Kenya, signaling early realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election. Leaders allied to the Linda Mwananchi movement have outlined an ambitious roadmap that could reshape the region’s political direction.
Speaking after a strategy meeting held at the residence of Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, political strategist Pauline Njoroge indicated that momentum is building within the region.
She described the developments as the beginning of a significant political shift, noting that “white smoke is beginning to billow from Western Kenya.”
During the briefing, the leaders announced plans to unveil a new political party that will anchor the Linda Mwananchi movement’s agenda. The outfit is expected to provide a platform to consolidate support across the region while positioning itself for national influence ahead of the 2027 polls.
Governor Natembeya outlined a series of political activities set to kick off later this month. According to the plan, the movement will hold a major rally in Trans Nzoia County on July 25, followed by another high-profile gathering in Bungoma County on July 26.
The Bungoma event has been described by insiders as a defining moment, where Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is expected to be endorsed as the Luhya community’s political leader.
Natembeya further revealed that he will spearhead grassroots mobilization efforts across all 38 constituencies in Western Kenya.
In his role as the coordinator of the movement’s political activities, the governor is expected to lead engagements aimed at strengthening Sifuna’s political base within the region.
In a bold declaration, the leaders present at the meeting endorsed Sifuna as their preferred presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
The endorsement marks an early attempt to unify the Luhya voting bloc behind a single figure, a strategy that has historically eluded the region.
The unfolding developments place Western Kenya at the center of early 2027 succession politics, with analysts expected to closely monitor how the new political outfit and its leadership strategy evolve in the coming months.
