Political scientist Mutahi Ngunyi has sparked fresh debate after alleging that recent public appearances by Muhoho Kenyatta signal a long-term political strategy aimed at the 2032 presidential race.

In a statement, Ngunyi claimed that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is positioning his younger brother as a future presidential candidate, while using current opposition figures as political placeholders ahead of the 2027 elections.

“HIGH POLITICS. Today Uhuru Kenyatta launched his brother's Presidential BID, 2032, Muhoho Kenyatta. Take it or Leave it. Ignoramus like Matiangi were flattered. Uhuru will send them to the 2027 battlefield to ensure they LOSE. Then Muhoho will be fronted as the FRESH Idea, 2032,” Ngunyi stated.

His remarks come days after Muhoho made a rare political appearance in Narok County, where he represented Uhuru at a Jubilee Party event.

During the gathering, Uhuru addressed delegates via phone, defending his involvement in party affairs and backing former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.

Muhoho has traditionally maintained a low public profile, largely staying away from active politics despite his influence in business and regional affairs.

However, his recent visibility at both political and state-linked events has triggered speculation about a possible shift.

In January, he was also present at State House during a presidential awards ceremony hosted by William Ruto, an appearance that drew attention due to the ongoing political realignments between allies and rivals of the former president.
