The May 3 edition of the Sunday Nation is led by political developments within the Orange Democratic Movement as leaders close to Raila Odinga move to outline a strategy ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Senior figures including Oburu Odinga, John Mbadi, Opiyo Wandayi, Wycliffe Oparanya, Ali Joho and Gladys Wanga are reported to have taken part in a three-day retreat aimed at consolidating the party’s position.

The meeting comes amid internal disagreements linked to the “Linda Mwananchi” faction and concerns over growing influence from allies of William Ruto.

Away from party strategy, the publication reports on tensions within ODM, with some members allied to Secretary General Edwin Sifuna’s faction expected to skip a key political event.

The divisions signal ongoing struggles within the party as it seeks to maintain cohesion ahead of the next electoral cycle.

In the security docket, the newspaper highlights deadly clashes along the Kitui-Tana River border, where at least seven people have been killed following disputes between neighbouring communities.

The victims have since been buried as leaders call for calm and intervention to prevent further violence.

The issue also carries a developing criminal investigation into the death of Dr Susan Karanja Owolabi. Police have identified a 45-year-old woman as a person of interest, believed to be among the last individuals to see the veteran obstetrician alive.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.
