The Chief Executive Officer of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya, Ezekiel Mutua, has publicly praised comedian and digital content creator Oga Obinna for what he described as an extraordinary rise in Kenya’s entertainment industry.
In a social media post, Mutua recounted how Obinna approached him when he was launching Oga Obinna TV shortly after leaving radio.
According to Mutua, the entertainer shared his vision of building a fresh and impactful digital platform at a time when the transition from traditional media to online broadcasting was still gaining momentum.
Mutua said they met over lunch at Ruby Cut, where he offered words of encouragement and expressed confidence in Obinna’s potential.
He was also among the first guests to appear on the show and publicly predicted that Obinna would become “Kenya’s Steve Harvey.”
Years later, the two met again at Windsor, where Obinna served as master of ceremonies during the wedding of Mutua’s friends, Dr. Princess and Apostle Peter Munai.
Mutua noted that they reflected on the early days of the digital venture and the growth the platform has achieved since its inception.
The MCSK CEO described Obinna as “super talented” and multiskilled, highlighting that beyond comedy and hosting, he is also a musician and a registered member of MCSK.
He said many Kenyans may not be aware of Obinna’s musical credentials and his contribution to the creative industry beyond digital television.
Mutua concluded his message with a public blessing, expressing confidence that Obinna is on the verge of entering the global stage.
Obinna’s journey mirrors the broader shift in Kenya’s media landscape, where digital platforms are increasingly shaping careers and expanding audiences beyond national borders.
