Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen held a consultative meeting with leaders from Turkana County to review the security situation and discuss strategies to enhance peace in areas recently hit by criminal activities.
Speaking after the meeting, CS Murkomen highlighted that the ongoing security operation in the county has already begun yielding positive results.
He emphasized the need to sustain collaborative efforts between national security agencies and local leadership, with a focus on intelligence-driven interventions to curb crime.
The session also covered the progress of the Mobile ID registration exercise, which targets residents in Turkana and other hard-to-reach areas of the country.
CS Murkomen described the initiative as part of a broader government agenda to address historical inequalities that have limited citizens’ access to essential services.
“Our discussions reaffirmed the importance of joint efforts in ensuring lasting peace while also enhancing service delivery,” CS Murkomen said.
“We remain committed to deploying targeted strategies that protect communities and bring government services closer to those who have been historically marginalized.”
They expressed optimism that sustained operations and inclusive service programs like Mobile ID registration will foster both security and development in the region.
The government has pledged to continue monitoring the impact of its interventions in Turkana, ensuring that security gains are consolidated and that citizens benefit from more accessible identification and related services.
This meeting signals a continued push by the government to balance security enforcement with social inclusion in marginalized counties.
