The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) marked a resounding victory in the February 26, 2026, by‑elections, winning all four contested seats — a performance that sparked sharp political commentary from both ruling party allies and opposition critics.

In the high‑profile parliamentary race in Isiolo South, UDA’s Mohamed Tubi secured the seat with 7,352 votes, overwhelming his nearest challenger, Bina Tubi of the Jubilee Party.

The contest drew national attention for its unusual sibling rivalry, as both candidates are children of the late former MP Mohamed Tubi Bidu.

At ward level, UDA also dominated: Duncan Muratia won Evurore Ward with 7,853 votes, Peterson Njeru claimed Muminji Ward, and Elphas Shalakha took West Kabras Ward — all under the UDA banner.

Speaking after the results, Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba cast the outcome as a historic milestone for UDA, arguing that no sitting president since the multiparty era except former President Daniel arap Moi  has overseen by‑election and general election victories for the same party. She said UDA could make history if the trend continues.

Wamuchomba dismissed social media‑driven opposition narratives, suggesting that critics mobilise on Facebook while actual voters remain with the ruling party on the ground.

She framed anger and insults from opponents as signs of frustration, and emphasised that winning elections is fundamentally about strategy, underscoring the role of effective ground campaigns over online commentary.

President William Ruto also weighed in on the outcome, thanking voters in all four constituencies for supporting UDA.

He described the clean sweep as evidence that the party remains on course to build “a solid national political party whose vision goes beyond generations” and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to advancing Kenya’s development goals.

In a message shared on social platforms, Ruto congratulated each winning candidate — Tubi Mohammed, Elphas Kainanga Shalakha, Duncan Muratia Nyaga, and Peterson Njeru — for earning the electorate’s confidence.
