The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has officially announced that its next National Delegates Conference (NDC) will be held on 27th March 2026, Party Secretary General and Busia Women Representative Catherine Omanyo confirmed on Sunday.
Omanyo emphasized that the decision follows the party’s constitution, which clearly outlines the procedures for convening the NDC. According to her, the notice and agenda for the meeting must be issued by the Secretary General.
In cases where this is not possible, the responsibility falls on another party official specifically appointed by the National Executive Committee at least 21 days before the conference.
“The ODM Constitution is clear on how the NDC should be convened,” Omanyo stated. She added that all notices are to be published on the party’s website, in at least one English-language newspaper with wide national circulation, or broadcast on a leading Swahili radio station.
The announcement comes amid growing speculation about party leadership and preparations for upcoming elections.
Party insiders say the NDC will provide a platform to discuss internal party structures, strategies, and the selection of key party officials ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Omanyo’s confirmation seeks to ensure transparency and adherence to party protocols, highlighting ODM’s commitment to democratic processes within its ranks.
“All members and delegates are encouraged to participate actively in the conference as we shape the party’s future,” she added.
The scheduled NDC could also serve as a critical moment for addressing leadership ambitions and unifying the party ahead of a competitive electoral season.
ODM supporters and delegates are now preparing for what is expected to be a highly significant gathering that will influence the party’s direction and strategy over the next electoral cycle.
