Lawyer Willis Otieno Issues Stern Advice to Babu Owino and Edwin Sifuna: "Rallies Are Not Enough Without a Clear Plan for Kenya"

City lawyer Willis Otieno has sent a strong message to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, cautioning that their ongoing Linda Mwananchi rallies, while popular, must evolve into a coherent political agenda.

The rallies, which have already been held in Kitengela and Kakamega, have drawn large crowds and widespread attention.

Otieno acknowledged that the two leaders are “reading the public mood correctly” by challenging Ruto’s WANTAM trajectory, noting that many Kenyans are frustrated with the current direction of governance.

“Many Kenyans are clearly frustrated and are looking for voices willing to confront the current direction of governance. On that front, they stand on the right side of public sentiment. But resistance alone is not a political program. Removing or opposing a regime cannot be the final destination; it must be the beginning of a clearly thought-out alternative,” Otieno stated.

The lawyer emphasized that public agitation must be paired with concrete proposals.

“Kenyans don’t just want the wantam journey stopped; they want to know what comes after it: the economic plan, the debt strategy, the jobs blueprint, the governance reforms. Because history has taught this country a painful lesson, that replacing leadership without replacing policy only resets the cycle of disappointment,” he said.

Otieno also warned that the current momentum from the rallies could quickly dissipate if not directed toward a structured agenda.

“The energy they are mobilising now must therefore evolve into an agenda, not just agitation, otherwise wantam will end, and confusion will begin,” he added.

His message emphasizes the need for clear policy solutions alongside popular mobilization, urging Sifuna and Babu to go beyond opposition and outline tangible strategies for Kenya’s future.

According to Otieno, without a defined plan covering governance, economic management, and job creation, the rallies risk ending in frustration rather than meaningful change.

As the Linda Mwananchi movement continues to gain attention, the focus now shifts to whether the two leaders will heed Otieno’s advice and transform public support into a comprehensive blueprint for national policy.
