Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has announced he will contest the 2027 general elections, emphasizing a leadership style rooted in service, conscience, and respect for human rights.
Speaking to Kenyans living and working in the United States, Kalonzo described the gathering as an informal but “real exchange” where issues affecting the country and its citizens were discussed.
“We spoke about home, about the direction of our country, and about the responsibility of leadership in this moment of our history,” he said on X.
Kalonzo stressed that his decision to run is grounded in decades of public service and experience.
“My public record speaks for itself,” he noted, highlighting his long-standing commitment to the people of Kenya.
The former vice president drew a sharp contrast between his leadership record and the handling of youth rights in recent years.
“Leadership is not only measured by policies. It is measured by conscience. It is measured by how a government treats its people, especially the young,” he said.
He went on to assert that he has never authorized killings, sanctioned abductions, or labeled young Kenyans as criminals for exercising their constitutional rights.
Accompanying Kalonzo were Deputy Minority Leader and Kathiani MP Robert Mbui, and Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo, who joined him in engaging the diaspora community.
“The conversation in Silver Spring was thoughtful and deeply encouraging,” Kalonzo said, commending the diaspora for remaining attentive and invested in Kenya’s future.
He called for a leadership that restores dignity, protects citizens, and builds a nation “worthy of the sacrifices of its people.”
