Johanna Ngeno, the Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr Constituency, has died following a helicopter crash in Chepkiep Village, Mosop Constituency, Nandi County.


The aircraft, registration 5Y-DSB, crashed on Saturday evening and burst into flames on impact. 


Witnesses reported hearing a loud explosion before the wreckage caught fire. Rescue teams and local residents responded, but there were no survivors among the six people on board.

 

Authorities confirmed the fatalities as aviation investigators began examining the cause of the crash.


Circumstances of the Crash

Preliminary reports indicate the helicopter went down shortly before sunset in a farm area within Mosop Constituenc. The impact triggered a fire that consumed the aircraft, complicating rescue efforts.


Aviation authorities and security agencies secured the site and launched investigations to determine whether mechanical failure, weather conditions, or human error contributed to the accident.

Johanna Ngeno was elected to Parliament on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket and emerged as one of the most vocal leaders from the South Rift region.
