A Kenyan businesswoman based in the United States has sparked widespread debate on social media after sharing a blunt warning to Kenyan men planning to relocate abroad with their spouses.

Nafula Sharleen, who lives and works in the US, took to Facebook with a lengthy post cautioning men against underestimating the legal and social realities of marriage in America.

Her remarks, written in a mix of Kiswahili and Sheng, has drawn strong reactions from both supporters and critics.

In the post, Nafula argued that men who are accustomed to traditional gender dynamics back home often struggle to adapt once they settle in the US.

She claimed that laws and institutions in America tend to prioritise the safety and welfare of children and women, leaving men vulnerable during domestic disputes.

According to her, disagreements that might be settled privately in Kenya can escalate quickly abroad, with police involvement becoming a real risk.

She warned that in the event of repeated domestic conflicts, men could be asked to leave their homes temporarily, slapped with restraining orders, or even lose access to their children while still being required to provide financial support.

Nafula further alleged that proving abuse against men is difficult, claiming that authorities often act swiftly on complaints raised by women.

She advised men to prioritise peace, avoid confrontations, and walk away from heated arguments to protect both their immigration status and personal freedom.

The businesswoman also touched on the cultural adjustment many Kenyan men face overseas, including taking on household responsibilities that may traditionally fall on women back home.

She framed this as part of the broader shift in power dynamics within relationships abroad.
