Baringo County police have recovered four illegal firearms in separate raids across the region, signaling progress in the ongoing disarmament campaign.

The National Police Service confirmed that the firearms were recovered yesterday from Kulol Village in Akoret, Natan Village in Kapedo East, Nakoko Village in Nakoko, and Torumo Village in Kokore.

All weapons are now in police custody, with investigations underway to trace their origins and those responsible.

In a statement on X, the police praised residents for their continued cooperation, highlighting community tips as key to cracking down on illegal arms and banditry.

“We commend members of the public for their support in the fight against illegal firearms and banditry,” the statement read.

Security officers stressed that the operations form part of a wider strategy to restore peace and stability in the county, which has in recent years experienced spikes in armed incidents linked to pastoral conflicts and bandit activities.

The police urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or illegal weapons, emphasizing that community involvement remains critical to enhancing safety and promoting peaceful coexistence.

These recoveries come as part of a broader national initiative to curb the circulation of unlicensed firearms, particularly in areas vulnerable to violence, and reflect the growing coordination between security agencies and local communities in maintaining law and order.
