Political activist Morara Kebaso has weighed in on Embakasi East MP Babu Owino’s recent call for youth-led leadership in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), highlighting the complexities of party politics in Kenya.

Speaking in a detailed post responding to Owino’s remarks on Citizen TV, Kebaso argued that the struggle for control of established parties like ODM is fraught with obstacles rooted in tribal loyalties and entrenched political networks.

“Fighting for the control of ODM is like removing meat from a hyena’s mouth. Akishika ameshika,” Kebaso said.

He suggested that any attempt to sway party supporters would require either forming a new party or joining an existing one.

He warned that simply recruiting followers without a concrete political home would be ineffective.

“If you are removing your supporters from ODM, where are you taking them? You need a new home for them,” he wrote.
