A mental health expert has sparked intense online debate after sharing a disturbing account from a client who, she says, is battling a life-altering family crisis that has pushed him to the edge.
In a detailed post on X, therapist Sally Precious (@Sallyprec) revealed that she had just ended a two-hour call with a male client whose story left her physically shaken.
She said the man pleaded with her to anonymously share his situation online, hoping to gain clarity from public opinion as he struggles to decide his next move.
According to the account, the man grew up in Nigeria in extreme wealth after inheriting a large estate as a teenager. At 17, he impregnated his girlfriend, and they had a daughter.
Family pressure and strict estate rules forced him to build a separate house nearby while renting a luxury apartment for the mother and child, allowing him to remain closely involved in their lives.
At 21, the man relocated to Canada in search of a fresh start. Two years later, he married an Ethiopian woman, and the couple had a son.
However, while he was abroad, a bitter inheritance dispute erupted between his extended family and his former partner in Nigeria. Communication broke down, the woman moved out, and the man eventually lost all contact with his daughter.
More than two decades later, the past resurfaced in the most shocking way. His daughter is now 24, while his son is 18.
The son, who grew up in Canada, frequently visited Nigeria to oversee family properties. Unbeknown to his father, he began dating a young woman from the same neighbourhood.
The secret relationship came to light this week when the son returned to Canada for Valentine’s Day, intending to surprise his parents by introducing his fiancée.
The father reportedly nearly collapsed when he realised the woman was his long-lost daughter.
The situation is further complicated by the revelation that the young woman is already pregnant, and neither she nor the son knows the truth.
The man’s wife is also unaware that he has another child in Nigeria.
