Endebess detectives have arrested Mike Wabwire Semera, identified as the prime suspect in the killing of 17-year-old Rael Cheptoek Kaboi, a Form Four student at Nai Girls Secondary School.

The tragic incident occurred on January 30, 2026, in Mowlem area, Kiptogot location.

Authorities were alerted early that morning when residents discovered Rael’s lifeless body on a nearby farm, roughly 700 metres from her mother’s home.

Police officers from Endebess quickly responded, documenting the scene before transporting the body to Kijana Wamalwa Referral Hospital for preservation and autopsy. Preliminary reports indicate the teenager bore clear signs of assault.

Investigations revealed that Rael had left home at 5:45 a.m. to attend school, located less than a kilometre away, but never arrived. Her body was found around 6:30 a.m. by fellow students walking to class.

Following intelligence reports, detectives tracked Semera to the Kenya–Uganda Suam border. He had fled across the border after the attack.

A coordinated operation with Ugandan authorities led to his arrest, and he was subsequently escorted back to Kenya.

Semera is now in custody at Endebess Police Station, undergoing processing ahead of formal arraignment.

Investigators are continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding the murder to establish a motive.

The arrest brings a measure of relief to the local community, which has been shaken by the violent death of the schoolgirl.

Police have urged residents to remain vigilant and assist authorities with any information that could aid in concluding the investigation.

The case highlights ongoing concerns over student safety in rural areas and the challenges law enforcement faces in cross-border criminal pursuits.

Authorities have assured that all efforts will be made to ensure justice is served swiftly.
