Eggs are a staple in many diets, but cooking them without oil is a healthy and practical option. Whether you’re reducing fat intake or don’t have oil at hand, you can still enjoy delicious eggs using simple techniques with water, heat, or a non-stick surface. Here are six easy methods:

1. Boiling

Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a gentle boil, then simmer. Cook 6–7 minutes for soft-boiled eggs or 9–12 minutes for hard-boiled. Cool in cold water before peeling.

2. Poaching

Poached eggs are cooked directly in simmering water. Crack an egg into a cup, then slide it into water that is gently simmering. Cook 3–4 minutes until the whites are set and the yolk remains soft.

3. Steaming

Steaming uses water vapor to cook eggs without submerging them. Add a few tablespoons of water to a sufuria, heat until steaming, then crack the egg in. Cover and cook 3–5 minutes, depending on your preferred yolk firmness. Add more water if it dries before the egg is done.

4. Oil-Free Fry in a Non-Stick Pan

Add 2–3 tablespoons of water to a non-stick pan, crack in the egg, and cover with a lid. Steam-cook until done, giving a fried-like texture without added fat.

5. Microwave

Crack an egg into a microwave-safe bowl with a little water. Pierce the yolk with a fork, cover loosely, and microwave in 20–30 second intervals until cooked to your liking.

6. Baking

Crack eggs into a heatproof dish and bake at 180°C for 10–15 minutes. This method is ideal for cooking multiple eggs at once with no oil.

These methods make it easy to enjoy eggs without added fat while keeping them nutritious and tasty. From steaming to poaching, there’s an oil-free option for every preference and kitchen setup.
