The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Coast Region has stepped up operations against illicit drugs, arresting multiple suspects and recovering significant quantities of narcotics across the region.

The Anti-Narcotics Unit, in collaboration with the DCI Headquarters’ Operation Support Unit, conducted a series of coordinated raids targeting drug sale, distribution, and consumption.

Acting on credible intelligence, detectives raided a residence in Kisimani belonging to Daudi Ahmed Ali.

Officers recovered a whitish powdery substance suspected to be narcotics, along with several unserviceable mobile phones believed to be stolen. Ali was arrested and taken to Bamburi Police Station, with the recovered items secured for forensic analysis.

In a separate operation at Majaoni, Shanzu, detectives searched a rental house owned by John Wangumo Wachiri.

They seized a red shopping bag containing loose dry plant material suspected to be narcotics, 21 sachets of similar material wrapped in clear polythene, and KSh 3,700 believed to be proceeds of crime.

Wachiri was arrested and remains in custody at Bamburi Police Station, with exhibits pending further analysis.

The crackdown continued in Ukunda Township, where Popin Mutisya’s residence at Corner Musa yielded 21 large rolls of dry plant material suspected to be cannabis.

Mutisya was booked at Ukunda Police Station, with the exhibits secured for processing.

Further north in Lungalunga, detectives arrested Mwaura Katana Mgaza in the Jua Kali area, seizing forty large rolls of what is suspected to be cannabis sativa. Mgaza was taken to Lungalunga Police Station, where the seized items were secured for forensic examination.

The DCI emphasized that the fight against narcotics trafficking and substance abuse remains a top priority in the Coast region and nationwide.

Members of the public are urged to report suspicious activities anonymously to support ongoing enforcement efforts.

These operations highlight the DCI’s commitment to disrupting the supply chains of illicit drugs and safeguarding communities from the adverse effects of narcotics.
