Speaking on X, Salasya called on Sifuna to stop “hiding” behind the rallies and be transparent with Kenyans, particularly the youth, who have been drawn to the movement.
The vocal first time MP has demanded that the Nairobi senator should clearly articulate what his end goal is.
“Mimi sina shida na Edwin Sifuna, but Sifuna stop being a coward and stop hiding behind ‘Linda Mwananchi’ rallies and be straight with Kenyans, especially the youth. They are giving you this spotlight, and attention. You should tell us your real goal. Is it reclaiming your ODM SG position? Taking over as party leader? Or eyeing the presidency in 2027? Tell us!” Salasya posted.
The Linda Mwananchi rallies, which aim to promote citizen participation and accountability, have so far been held in Kitengela and Kakamega, with a major event scheduled in Mombasa next weekend.
The events have attracted a mix of politicians from different parties, including Siaya Governor James Orengo, Vihiga Senator Geoffrey Osotsi, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, Jubilee Party Organizing Secretary General Pauline Njoroge, Hon. Brian Weke, MP Anthony Kibagendi, and MP Barongo.
Their participation has added weight to the rallies, intensifying public and media attention.
Critics argue that Sifuna, who has distanced himself from ODM leadership decisions since his removal as Secretary General, may be using the rallies as a platform to advance personal political ambitions rather than purely civic engagement.
Salasya’s remarks show growing scrutiny within party ranks and question whether Sifuna is positioning himself to reclaim party influence or aim for higher office ahead of the 2027 elections.
