Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has commissioned the Wamboo Market Borehole in Ekalakala Ward, marking a significant step in efforts to improve access to clean and reliable water across the county.

The project is expected to ease water shortages in the semi-arid area, where residents have long struggled with limited and unreliable supply.

Speaking after the commissioning, Governor Ndeti said expanding access to safe water remains a top priority of her administration.

She described the Wamboo Market Borehole as a major milestone achieved through collaboration between the County Government of Machakos and development partners.

The project was implemented with support from I Love Africa NGO-South Korea, which partnered with the county in the equipping and reticulation of the borehole.

Governor Ndeti thanked the organisation’s Board President, Ms. Lee Chang Ok, for supporting the initiative and strengthening cooperation between the county and international partners.

According to the county government, the borehole will serve more than 13,000 residents in Ekalakala Ward, as well as nearby institutions and businesses.

Governor Ndeti reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to scaling up similar projects across Machakos County.

She said the county will continue investing in water infrastructure and partnerships aimed at ensuring every household has access to clean and safe water.
