Three Years in Service: Ruto’s Economic Advisor Kangara Reflects on Challenges and Achievements

President William Ruto’s economic advisor Sylivia Kang’ara has marked three years since her appointment to the President’s Council of Economic Advisors, reflecting on her experience and the work undertaken in the office.

In a statement on X, Kangara described her tenure as “an amazing experience,” noting the complexity of the economic challenges addressed alongside her colleagues. 

She highlighted her close observation of President Ruto’s commitment to Kenya’s economic and social transformation.

Kang’ara credited her fellow council members for their “phenomenal commitment, resilience, brilliance and service,” describing the team’s work as essential in tackling some of the most pressing issues facing the nation. 

She also paid tribute to Dr David Ndii, emphasizing the opportunity to serve under his leadership since her initial appointment.

“Three years ago, I received that call from Dr David Ndii and the President. As it was then, it still is today — I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to serve the President and our nation,” she said. 

Kangara added that while she does not promise perfection, she remains committed to offering her expertise and dedication despite challenges.

Her remarks come at a time when the government continues to face scrutiny over economic policy implementation, public debt management, and social welfare programs. 

Kang’ara concluded by invoking blessings on the nation and the President, expressing optimism for the council’s continued contributions.

As Kenya navigates complex economic terrain, advisors like Kang’ara remain central to shaping policies aimed at sustainable growth and social development.
