Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has moved swiftly to debunk a digitally manipulated image circulating online that falsely shows him kneeling during President William Ruto’s address at the NYOTA programme on Monday at Kasarani Stadium.

In a statement, CS Mutua described the image as “AI-generated” and emphasized that it does not represent reality.

He warned that such content is designed to mislead the public and distort perceptions of officials.

“I wish to alert the public that a manipulated, AI-generated image is currently circulating online, falsely portraying me in a compromising and misleading situation,” CS Mutua said.

“The image is not real and has been digitally altered to spread misinformation.”

The fake photo sparked debate on social media, with some users sharing it before Mutua’s clarification.

The incident highlights the growing challenge of AI-driven disinformation, which can quickly go viral and affect public trust.

CS Mutua urged Kenyans to rely on verified information from credible sources and to avoid sharing unconfirmed content.

“Let us work together to stop the spread of digital misinformation,” he added.

The NYOTA programme, attended by youth leaders and government officials, focuses on youth empowerment initiatives.
