Businessman Oketch Salah has addressed growing speculation about his role during the final days of opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking publicly on X, Salah rejected claims that his presence was politically motivated or disrespectful to Odinga’s family.
“There were moments I genuinely thought I was losing him,” he said, adding that at times only he and a security officer were present, providing care and support.
He clarified that the officer was not Maurice Ogetta, whose name has been incorrectly associated with those moments.
“I have never claimed to replace Baba’s family nor have I ever disrespected Mama Ida or his children. Any suggestion to that effect is false and malicious,” Salah stated.
He also revealed that he engaged in private conversations with Odinga covering personal, political, and strategic matters.
While he refused to disclose the details out of respect for the family, Salah stressed that his silence should not be interpreted as fear or guilt.
Salah said he is willing to face public scrutiny at any credible platform to clarify his role.
He accused online commentators and unnamed individuals of trying to cast him as a villain to advance political agendas.
Concluding his statement, Salah called for restraint and dignity in public discussions about Odinga’s final days.
“Pain deserves dignity, not spectacle,” he said, emphasizing that the truth of his actions and presence cannot be altered by online mobs or political theatrics.
