Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has called on Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders to come together for discussions, as the party grapples with internal divisions.
In a post on X on Wednesday, Sifuna listed senior figures, signaling a push for dialogue.
“Sit. Talk. Tumeanza,” Sifuna wrote, mentioning Governor James Orengo, Hon. Namoit, MP Turkana South, Senator Mumma, Asige, Hon. Millie Odhiambo, Ruth Odinga, Babu Owino, Peter Imwatok, Hon. Reuben Ndolo, Hon. Amos Wako, Edwin Ngonga, and John Andiwo. He did not provide further details on the purpose of the gathering.
The message comes a day after the widow of the late former prime minister Raila Odinga urged ODM leaders to meet and chart a way forward for the party, emphasizing the need for unity.
ODM is currently facing internal wrangles, with some leaders calling for Sifuna’s removal from his position as secretary general.
He also serves as the deputy minority whip in the Senate.
Political analysts say Sifuna’s call could be an attempt to quell factionalism and foster negotiation before the divisions deepen.
The uncertainty surrounding the agenda of the proposed meeting has sparked speculation among party supporters and political observers alike.
As ODM navigates these challenges, all eyes are on whether the senior leaders will heed Sifuna’s call and engage in meaningful dialogue.
The outcome could set the tone for the party’s stability and cohesion in the coming months, particularly with key political activities on the horizon.
