Youth Affairs and Creative Economy PS Fikirini Jacobs has issued an update on the assistance he promised to a blind mother from Malindi, whose son, Teddy, was struggling to join high school due to financial constraints.
“Godspeed, my young brother Teddy, as you open a new chapter of your educational journey. May this new beginning shape your character, sharpen your mind, and open doors to a bright and promising future, just as your mother prays,” Jacobs said.
The PS also acknowledged partners who contributed to supporting Teddy’s education.
He thanked Mombasa Cement for fully covering the student’s second-year school fees, and Hon. Amina Munyazi, MP, for a cheque that will support his third year.
Jacobs described the contributions as critical in ensuring that Teddy’s academic journey continues uninterrupted.
He praised the management, teaching staff, and the wider school community for maintaining high academic standards, emphasizing the importance of an enabling learning environment for students like Teddy.

Earlier, Jacobs had personally paid Teddy’s first-year school fees and accompanied him to school, while his team assisted with essential school items.
The story, which first drew attention after coverage by NTV Kenya, has continued to resonate with Kenyans, highlighting the impact of community and government support in ensuring every child has the opportunity to pursue education, regardless of financial or personal challenges.
