Prophet David Owuor has responded to Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale’s warning to medical professionals who testified that some HIV-positive attendees were healed during his recent crusade, stressing that his Ministry of Repentance and Holiness operates in full alignment with medical protocols.

In a detailed statement, the prophet’s office acknowledged the importance of evidence-based medicine as emphasized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) and cautioned against misrepresentations about faith healing practices.

“We acknowledge KMPDC's emphasis on evidence-based medicine and the legitimate risks of unverified practices,” the statement read.

“It is also important that we clarify what actually happens in the Ministry of Repentance and Holiness, under the leadership of The Prophet Dr. David Owuor. There seems to be a significant gap between what people might assume about faith healing ministries and how we actually operate.”

The statement emphasized that attendees are never instructed to stop prescribed medications or abandon treatment.

“When someone attends our meetings, they continue taking their prescribed medications and following their treatment plans exactly as their doctors instructed. We only consider a case verified once these doctors have confirmed, through their own professional assessment, that there has been a measurable change in the person’s health status. This isn’t about feelings or faith alone. It’s about what medical science can observe and document,” it said.

Prophet Owuor’s office said extensive medical documentation exists for multiple cases and called on the government to investigate the reported healings.

“Given that we have extensive medical documentation spanning numerous cases, we’re calling on the Government of Kenya, through the Ministry of Health and the KMPDC, to conduct a thorough, formal investigation of these documented healings. We’re not asking for blind acceptance. We’re asking for examination. Once the said investigation is complete, we believe the findings should be made public. Kenyans deserve to know what’s actually happening whether these healings hold up under scrutiny or not.”

The prophet’s office also stressed transparency and consent.

“Lastly, everyone whose healing story we share has given us full permission to do so. These aren’t anonymous cases or secondhand accounts. The people who have been healed continue to live in their communities. They’re real individuals with names, families, and medical records. They’re available and willing to speak with any government investigators, medical professionals, or journalists who want to verify their stories firsthand,” the statement added.

The response comes amid mounting scrutiny from the Ministry of Health, which had directed KMPDC to investigate doctors who testified at the crusade.

CS Duale had warned that medics failing to provide evidence could face suspension or revocation of their licenses for professional misconduct.

Prophet Owuor’s office maintains that proper verification and documentation underpin all healing claims shared publicly, insisting that faith and science can coexist in documenting health outcomes.

The unfolding debate shows the tension in Kenya between faith-based healing claims, medical ethics, and public health policy, with both religious leaders and government regulators calling for clarity, accountability, and evidence in reporting HIV recoveries.
