The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has mandated party stalwart Oburu Odinga to lead structured negotiations with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) as part of early political realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In a statement released after the meeting, the party said the move is part of broader preparations aimed at positioning ODM to contest—and form—the next government.
The committee noted that with the general election scheduled for next year, ODM cannot afford to delay its political and organisational readiness.
It resolved that structured work should begin immediately, covering policy development, coalition building, candidate preparedness, and strengthening party structures nationwide.
The committee expressed satisfaction with the national turnout and political significance of the celebrations, describing them as a reaffirmation of the party’s long-standing role in Kenya’s struggle for democracy, social justice, and inclusive governance.
ODM further evaluated its performance in the November 2025 by-elections, where the party won all three parliamentary seats it contested.
The committee said the victories reflected continued voter confidence in ODM candidates and party leadership.
It noted that courts had declared the proposed Panel of Experts unlawful and resolved that any compensation funds should instead be channelled through constitutionally recognised institutions, particularly the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR).
The meeting also received reports from the Auditor General and the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties, commending ODM for maintaining clean financial records and full compliance with the Political Parties Act for the twentieth consecutive year.
The committee directed relevant party organs to operationalise all resolutions ahead of the 2027 polls.
