National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has raised alarms over alleged electoral malpractice and violence in Uganda as voting continues.

In statements posted on social media on Wednesday, Kyagulanyi described what he called a “systematic attack on democracy,” claiming that internet services had been deliberately switched off across the country, hindering communication and independent reporting.

He also alleged widespread ballot stuffing at polling stations and failure of biometric voter verification kits (BVVK), a critical component of Uganda’s election process.

Kyagulanyi further reported that senior party officials, including the Deputy President for the Western Region, had been arrested.

Numerous polling agents and supervisors were reportedly abducted or forced away from polling stations, according to his account.

“The PEOPLE OF UGANDA MUST RISE TO THE OCCASION AND REJECT THE CRIMINAL REGIME. THE WORLD MUST NEVER GIVE ANY LEGITIMACY TO THE REGIME OF BLOOD AND SHAME,” Kyagulanyi wrote, calling on citizens and the international community to respond to what he described as a crackdown on democratic rights.

The NUP leader’s remarks come amid heightened tensions in Uganda, where authorities have deployed security forces to maintain order at polling stations.
