Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba on Friday morning confirmed that he, alongside senior education officials, briefed President William Ruto on the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results ahead of their official release.

CS Ogamba said the delegation included the Principal Secretary for Basic Education, Amb. Prof. Julius Bitok; the Chair of the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) Council, Prof. Julius Nyabundi; KNEC CEO Dr. David Njengere; and the acting CEO of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Ms. Evaleen Mitei.

“The briefing took place at the Eldoret State Lodge, Uasin Gishu County. It was an honour to update His Excellency the President on the performance trends and key highlights of this year’s examinations,” CS Ogamba noted in a statement on social media.

The 2025 KCSE exams saw nearly one million candidates sit for national assessments across the country, with a roughly equal distribution between boys and girls.

The official results announcement is expected later on Friday, a moment that will determine university placements and other post-secondary pathways for students.

Education stakeholders, including school administrators and teachers, have been monitoring the results closely, with CS Ogamba emphasizing that the briefing aimed to provide the President with a comprehensive understanding of national performance before the public announcement.

The release of the KCSE results marks a crucial milestone in Kenya’s education calendar, setting the stage for students, parents, and institutions to plan for the next academic and professional steps.
